Our Lisbon Food Recs

The food scene in Lisbon is unreal. It’s a city best explored with an open appetite. Here are some of our favorite restaurants and bars:

O Velho Eurico

Best Traditional Portugese

Imagine walking up a hill and seeing a quaint tasca that is packed wall to wall. Congratulations, you have found the cities best traditional Portuguese food! O Velho Eurico opens at 7:30pm, but if you do plan on going, we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes early, which should ensure you as the first in line for their walk-in system. There’s no line, so when people start arriving, it all depends on the honesty of others. We were happy to see the beauty of humanity when everyone there was honest. When the doors open, they will mark your name on a chalkboard, as they let those with reservations come first. Reservations are sometimes booked months in advanced. Don’t worry though, order a drink and talk it up with others in line. Some things in life are best waited on. By the way, at the end of your meal, prepare for the holy water! - H

Prado

Some of the city’s best food and wine. World-class execution and worth splurging on.

Farès

Incredible Mediterranean food in one of Lisbon’s coolest areas. The people-watching is great.

RUMI

Turkish food is so good, and this place delivers. Please order the tantuni. It will bring a smile to your face.

Fúria

Favorite cocktail bar

Fúria means rage. It's low-key and effortlessly cool, located at the bottom of Calçada da Estrela in São Bento, our favorite neighborhood in Lisbon. You’ll be drawn in by the glowing acrylic and metal bar, neon lighting, and pressurized cocktail vessels lined up behind the counter. The impressive drink menu rotates seasonally, with guest bartenders regularly shaking things up. Grab your spot facing the towering cocktail vessels and ask the bartender for a suggestion, or the bargoer next to you. Everyone here is up for making new friends. Be sure to order a side of fries. - H

Pro Tip: Some of the best bites in the city belong on a street called Rua da Boavista. It has all the newest and trendiest restaurants in the city! You could literally call a ride to get dropped off there and will find something delicious.
